Q + A

When is the best time to book flights from Detroit?

We recommend setting pricing alerts via travel apps such as Hopper. In general, booking flights a minimum of 2 months in advance, and on a Tuesday or Wednesday will be a safe bet. We will keep an eye on prices and let you know when we think it is time to book. Flying into Las Vegas airport will be the cheapest, but you can fly into St.George airport as well to cut about an hour off the drive.

How far is it from Las Vegas Airport?

It is about a 3 hour drive from LAS to Ponderosa Ranch Resort where the wedding venue and most accommodations are located. We will coordinate shuttles to and from the airport on Thursday Friday, with return transport Sunday. The shuttle will also include transportation to itinerary activities. If you are interested in the shuttle, please send Brandon or I your travel details.

Where should I stay?

We highly recommend staying on Ponderosa. There are a ton of amenities, you’re right outside the national park, and a walk away from the wedding venue. There are accommodations fit for 2, but we highly encourage booking with a group to take advantage of the larger on property accommodations (and it makes it way cheaper!)

Do we have to participate in Thursday and Friday activities?

Of course not! You are more than welcome to treat this weekend as a mini vacation. We of course would love to hang out with everyone, but please feel free to explore on your own or simply relax at the resort.

What is 'Formal/Black Tie' dress code?

It doesn't mean men have to wear a tie and ladies have to wear a floor length formal gown. This means we want you to take this opportunity to get fancy and feel your best! We kindly ask for no jeans, sweat pants, or t-shirts. HOWEVER - Feel free to bring a change of comfy clothes for the after party.

Are there preferred colors or styles for guest attire?

We would love to see guests in gold or spring colored attire. Style wise, think Gatsby (colorful and fancy, not 1920s era), classy and elegant.

Do I have to stay at The Ponderosa Resort?

Not at all! There are plenty of additional options inside and outside of Zion National Park. We only recommend Ponderosa due to the amenities and proximity to the venue. There are also more cost effective options in Orderville/Mount Carmel such as the Best Western - Mount Carmel or Holiday Inn Express - Springdale

Will there be an open bar?

You betcha! We will have a simple bar with wine, liquor and beer options. If there is a very specific drink you'd like though, feel free to bring it and we can store it in one of the many refrigerators on the property.

Are kids allowed?

Preferably, this is an adults only occasion. We love ALL of your littles and would love to see them dressed up or dancing it up on the dance floor. Hiowever, this will allow everyone to relax and have fun without worrying about little ones running around. We wan't you to let loose and make it memorable! Mom & Dad's first vacay since....? ;)

What time should guests arrive?

Guests can come as soon as 4 pm, the ceremony will begin promptly at 4:30 pm.

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Weather permitting, the ceremony and reception will be outside. We will plan to have a tent back up and semi-in-house plan if rain is expected.

Can I bring a plus one?

Those addressed on your invite are who is invited. This is a small wedding, and our venue will not accommodate more than our current guest list.

What will the weather be like?

Southern UT in May has warmer spring temps, with highs between 70-80 degrees and lows between the 60s to low 50s. I would pack for spring, but bring a cover up/light jacket just in case.

What should I pack?

- hiking attire/footwear -sweatshirt or light jacket for the evenings -swimsuit if your place to stay has a pool or hot tub -comfy clothes for the afterparty -wedding outfit of course! -tums/ibeprofen (it's not high altitude, but if you are sensitive to sickness it might be good to be prepared)
